# Why Governance Matters

<figure><img src="/files/PDl4cZbJbs3zdKsy0tEp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Synergy is built on the belief that progress should belong to everyone who contributes to it. Governance makes that belief real. It gives each participant a way to shape the system they are helping to build.

When someone votes, they are not just influencing a rule or a proposal. They are helping decide what kind of intelligence Synergy becomes.

Governance ensures that no single entity owns the network. It turns Synergy into a public good, a shared intelligence infrastructure that grows through cooperation, not control.

In Synergy, governance is not bureaucracy. It is the art of organizing intelligence itself. It is how a decentralized network learns to guide its own future.
